I bought this butter dish to replace one that I broke, not sure how I did it but broke the handle completely off the top which made it very difficult to maneuver. After trying to make it work, I just trashed it and re-invested in this one. I actually like this one better as it holds not just a standard stick of butter as pictured but also larger sticks and Irish butter that comes in more rectangular shapes. So it’s a bit larger, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hold your standard stick just fine. It also cleans up nicely in the dishwasher, and it has a functioning handle on top, I’ve missed that!Ceramic Butter Dishes are the BEST because they keep sunlight off butter: did you know sunlight destroys enzymes in butter which then causes the butter to go bad much quicker? Now I won't have to store my butter up in the dark cabinet any more.I go through a lot of butter each week and get annoyed when I forget to pull it out of the fridge in time to soften for my toast/bread/waffles/etc.. I finally bought myself this butter dish and had that "doh" moment when I realized that I should have done this YEARS ago. It took awhile to find one that didn't have a lot of useless bells & whistles or decorative frippery. It's a classic, plain, no-frills ceramic butter dish. It's sturdy, washes easily, and has a slight upraised rim on the butter plate for a bit of an extra seal when the lid is on.The butter dish arrived promptly and well-packaged. Unfortunately, it was a little bigger than the space I have, so I had to request a return (which was promptly processed as well). Had it been a little narrower, it would have been perfect - quite sturdy and an easy to grasp handle.Very simple design that will go with anything. Easy to clean and works well.Butter dish.. Not much else to it. This one looks clean, pretty thick and solid ceramic built. Good handle on top. The sides are wide enough and tall enough that the butter won't touch the lid. Better styling than a cheap one from the box store with a sun. As long you don't drop it on the floor it will lastThis is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Perfect, minimalist butter dish without any unneeded features or issues. Simple and elegant and very well made. It's a bit bigger then I expected, and will fit pretty much any butter stick with enough "plate space" for very comfortable use. With that said, it is not too big or bulky and does not take up much space. Overall, I am delighted that I found this gem! Finally, a butter dish big enough for any stick of butter. No smelly plastic. No stupid "butter" labels. This dish is beefy. And, it has a very shallow divider of sorts to keep the lid in the right area and the butter out of the area where the lid sits. I dig it.
